Just a few kilometers from Casale Monferrato, in the hills just south of the city, offering unprecedented views and enchanting farmhouses built with the use of the local stone, on the surface ... as well as undergorund where the cavities for wine conservation facilitated the inclusion of these lands in the UNESCO list of sites.
Your tour begins by taking the road to Vignale and going up to Terruggia. The panorama is expanded, the houses become elegant and flowered till you discover the green corner of the village: the Villa Poggio Park.
From the village you can go towards the Ghenza Valley, a land of truffles, wines and a place of excellence in the use of the local Stone “da cantone”. Admire the valley from Rosignano Monferrato, home of the embroidery, the home of the open-air museum with past farming equipment and proof, and a place to visit the numerous underground Infernots, listed in the Unesco World Heritage, whose primates are shared with the nearby flower village of Cella Monte where a lot of wineries have ancient underground cavities and has the Ecomuseum of Pietra da Cantoni (Ecomuseo della Pietra da Cantone).
Leaving the valley, the sinuous roads between the hills lead you to Sala Monferrato, a country of bread and the typical “salumi” of Monferrato, dominated by a castle and churches of rare charm.
In the nearby Treville the village appears lying at the foot of the panoramic summit where the imposing Parish stands, a place considered Monferrato's belvedere. You can also visit the Civic Collection of the works of the contemporary art master Mario Surbone.
Returning towards Casale Monferrato, you will be welcomed by Ozzano Monferrato (Orange Flag by the Italian Touring Club) with its ancient concentric in which the Castle and Parish church stand out, as well as buildings of architectural significance and the testimonies of industrial archeology.
Not far from here you can see in San Giorgio Monferrato, the San Giorgio's Castle (Castello di San Giorgio Monferrato), that overlooks the entire historic centre that descends gradually down to the valley.
A rich land outside and inside, so much that you will feel like you have lived in a fairy tale.
