About Monferrato
Here history, art, architecture, crafts and traditions mix in an extraordinary landscape . Hills, plains and the area of the river Po coexist among vineyards and rice fields in a successful and balanced synthesis, offering high quality and varied typical products: the precious truffles, the excellent wines, the best types of rice, the muletta (typical salami ) and the famous krumiri biscuits.
At the centre of this area there is Casale Monferrato, the capital of the territory from 1434, where there are some of the most beautiful palaces of the Piedmontese Baroque, a synagogue and a museum of Jewish art unique in Europe, the Romanesque cathedral with its splendid narthex, the complex of S. Croce, with the civic Museum and the adjoining collection of plaster casts of the symbolist sculptor Leonardo Bistolfi and the imposing Castello del Monferrato.
All around the town of Casale Monferrato, you can discover beautiful villages, charming corners often unknown, where you can relax and enjoy events associated to local traditions.
