Casale Città Aperta. Special openings in the 2nd and 3rd weekend of September
Lots of events related to culture and food&wine are waiting for you in and aroud the town of Casale Monferrato.
The monthly event "Casale Città Aperta" doubles in September, with the ordinary edition on the second weekend (10th and 11th September) and an extraordinary edition on the third weekend (17th and 18th September). Two different editions because of the Wine Festival, that takes place in the town of Casale Monferrato in the 3rd and 4th weekend of this month.
Casale Città Aperta gives you the chance to visit some places which are opened only on that occasion, take part in the free guided tour organized by the voluntary association “Orizzonte Casale” on Sunday afternoon and walk up and down the stalls in the Antiques Market held in Piazza Castello (the Antique Market takes place on the second weekend only).
One of the places that can’t be missed is the Civic Tower, which has ancient origins and is also the emblem of the town. Thanks to “Casale Città Aperta” it is possible to walk up to the panoramic terrace and enjoy wonderful views.
Last but not least, we suggest that you take time to visit San Michele’s Church– whose dome was frescoed in 1597 and with the painting The Archangel Saint Michael whose preparatory sketch is now at the Royal Library in Turin – and Vitta Palace – the building was started at the end of the 17th century.
In addition it is possible to visit other churches (such as Santa Maria Delle Grazie's church, also known as Santa Caterina, and Sant'Ilario's church), museums and places that are open every weekend, such as: the Synagogue and the Jewish Museum (on Sundays only); the Civic Museum and Bistolfi Gipsoteca; Sant'Evasio’s Cathedral and the Cathedral treasure; San Domenico’s church and its cloister; the castle.
