Monferrato Art and Culture: exploring the capital of Monferrato
The itinerary starts in Casale , a prosperous settlement which witnesses the importance of the Monferrato Marquisate , the dynasty that deeply marked the town and the surrounding area.
The town has got several excellent historic and architectural elements : the beautiful Romanesque Cathedral with its superb narthex and the Cathedral Museum, the historic Treville Palace and d’Alencon Palace , the Civic Tower and a very interesting Synagogue with the Jewish Museum , the Civic Museum, the picture gallery, the Bistolfi Gallery of plaster casts and the Archaelogical section, the Baroque courtyards and the Seminary Library ( founded in 1605 , it has got more than 30,000 volumes , manuscripts and rare editions) , the Monferrato Castle which has recently been restored . Inside the Castle there is the Monferrato Regional Wine Shop
The MoMu (Monferrato Museums) card gives free access for one year to the following museums: Civic Museum and Bistolfi Collection, Synagogue and Jewish Museum, Cathedral Treasure, Paradise Chapel in the Holy Mount of Crea Park.

Every second weekend of the month Casale opens the main churches and monuments to the public (Casale Città Aperta) and offers guided tours organized by the Civic Museum with the contribution of the association “Orizzonte Casale”.
